Date and Place of Birth
Mihail Avlasevich was born on the 6th of June 1938 in village Proshki, Vitebsk region.
Died on the 11th of March 2008 in Minsk.

Education
In 1957 Mihail Avlasevich graduated with honors from Polotsk Pedagogical College and since 1957 to 1959 studied at Polotsk State Pedagogical Institute. In 1962 graduated with honors from the philological faculty o Mogilev State Pedagogical Institute, specialty “Belarusian and Russian Language and Literature”, than studied at the Post graduate school of Institute of Linguistics named after Yakub Kolas of Belarusian Academy of Sciences (with the modern sector of the Belarusian literary language and culture of the language) in the specialization “The Belarusian Language”.
In 1970 achieved a PhD degree in Philology (a Candidate of Philological Sciences)

Awards and honors
“Excellence in Public Education of the BSSR” (1978), “Excellence in Public Education of the USSR” (1984), “Honored Worker of Education of the BSSR” (1989).
In 1978 was awarded the Honorary Diploma the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR.

Career Experience
Mihail Avlasevich was working as an assistant (1962–1963), a lecturer (1964), a senior lecturer (1965–1972), an Associate Professor (1976–1991), Professor (1991)at the Department of Russian Philology of Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University, since 1972 to 1991 was a Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, since 1991 to 1994 was a Vice-Rector, since 1994 to 2001 was a rector of Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University.
Was a Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus (2001), a Chairman of the National Council of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for social support of talented pupils and students (1996), a member of the subcommittee of the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus in the field of literature and art (1996). A corresponding Member of the Belarusian Academy of Education (1997).

Scientific interests
Modern Russian language (word formation, syntax), methods of the Russian language teaching, modern Belarusian language (word formation, syntax), methods of the Belarusian language teaching, lexicography (Russian-Belarusian terminography), social linguistics (language situation in Belarus and other countries of the former USSR) pedagogy of middle and high school, etc.
