Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France to the Republic of Belarus Mr. Didier Kanessa has paid a working visit to the Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University. The foreign guest inspected the center of information resources of the French language and culture, and also held negotiations with the administration of the university.

Mr. Didier Kanessa arrived in our university accompanied by the head of the education department of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Vladimirovich Ryzhkov, chairman of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee RuslanStrashar. The guests were greeted by the first pro-rector Dmitry SergeyevichLavrinovich, who spoke about the system of teaching the French language at the Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University. According to Dmitry Sergeyevich, the faculty of Foreign Languages has already prepared more than 1000 specialists who have mastered the French language. “Our graduates successfully work in education, are engaged in business, are represented practically in all spheres of a national economy”, — the first vice-rector has noted. In turn, Mr. Didier Kanessa highly appreciated the quality of teaching the French language at our university, and also made a number of proposals. First, he proposed creating a so-called “French corner” on the university's base, where books and periodicals in French would be more widely represented. Secondly, the Ambassador of France stressed the importance of educational mutually beneficial cooperation. “In my country, there are many opportunities for obtaining quality higher education. Unfortunately, Belarusian students know about these opportunities very little ... For example, unlike the US, training in our public universities for foreign citizens is free. We do not do business on education. I think this is an important point ... Despite this and other advantages, only a little more than 300 Belarusians came to France to study”, Mr. Didier Kanessa said. In the dialogue with representatives of the French embassy, the University was interested in establishing more lasting contacts. “I am sure that the opportunity to get an education, to study in France will attract the attention of the students of the faculty of Foreign Languages, Economics and Law, the faculty of History and Philology ... It is important that information about the opportunities for education in France reach students and teachers in time”, stressed Dmitry Lavrinovich. In order to popularize these useful knowledge, it was decided to use university and faculty social networks. In addition, the administration of the university promised to explore the possibilities for facultative teaching of the French language in various areas - for example, “business French”, etc. The visit of Ambassador of France to the Republic of Belarus Mr. Didier Kanessa ended with a tour of the university and a visit to the Information Resources Center of the French language and culture.
